Rockingstone Advisors LLC was founded in 2009 by Brandt Sakakeeny, a former equity analyst at Deutsche Bank and Salomon Smith Barney. The firm is named after "the rockingstone," a 150-ton glacial erratic that was deposited in Larchmont, New York during the last ice age. As the ice and debris receded, the rock was so perfectly balanced that it could rock back and forth on its base without tipping over. In the early 20th century, however, blasting in the area for a new sewer system dislodged the rock from its base and it now sits in the middle of Rockingstone Avenue in Larchmont. The rock symbolizes strength, solidity and permanence, but its ability to rock for thousands of years reflects flexibility and balance. It is also a global phenomenon, as rockingstones similar to this one exist where glaciers once stood, including England and the European continent. |
